  • Prepare the Ingredients
    In a large pot, combine the apple cider, cinnamon sticks, cloves, nutmeg, orange slices, and star anise (if using).
  • Simmer & Infuse The Flavors
    Heat over medium heat until the cider begins to simmer, about 10 minutes.
  • Infuse the Flavors
    Lower the heat and let it steep for an additional 5 minutes to infuse the flavors.
  • Finishing Touches
    Stir in the maple syrup and vanilla extract. Strain out the spices and orange slices if desired.
  • Serve
    Serve warm in mugs, garnished with a cinnamon stick or a slice of orange.
